Introducing Care Beyond Cure: Building the Future of Patient Care at King’s College Hospital

LIBRA

At LIBRA Lions, we’ve always believed that exceptional healthcare is about more than life-saving treatments. It’s about creating an environment where patients feel supported, cared for and given the very best chance to recover.

That’s why we’re proud to launch our new fundraising campaign:

Care Beyond Cure – One Pride. One Purpose.

Our ambitious goal is to raise at least £250,000 towards the development of a new and expanded Ambulatory Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at King’s College Hospital.

Why is this needed?

Haematology is changing rapidly.

Innovative treatments, including CAR-T cell therapy, are transforming outcomes for people living with blood cancers such as myeloma. These pioneering therapies are offering hope to patients who previously had limited treatment options, and the number of people eligible to receive them is expected to grow significantly over the coming years.

With this exciting progress comes a new challenge.

The existing Ambulatory Bone Marrow Transplant Unit has reached capacity. As more patients benefit from advanced therapies, there is an urgent need for a larger, purpose-built facility that can meet future demand while continuing to deliver the outstanding care for which King’s College Hospital is renowned.

Care Beyond Cure

For nearly 50 years, LIBRA Lions has supported the Haematology Department at King’s, funding pioneering research, specialist equipment, improved facilities and services that enhance the patient experience.

Care Beyond Cure represents the next step in that journey.

This campaign is about creating a modern, welcoming environment where patients can receive specialist treatment safely and comfortably, while ensuring doctors, nurses and clinical teams have the facilities they need to provide world-class care.

It is an investment not only in buildings, but in people, innovation and hope.

One Pride. One Purpose.

The name of our campaign reflects the spirit that has always defined LIBRA Lions.

For almost five decades, Lions Clubs, supporters, volunteers, fundraisers, researchers, healthcare professionals and patients have come together with a shared purpose: improving the lives of people affected by blood cancers and blood disorders.

Together, we have funded breakthroughs in research, supported patients through some of the most difficult moments of their lives and helped King’s College Hospital remain at the forefront of haematology care.

Now we’re asking you to help us write the next chapter.
