LIBRA Supporter to Run Worthing Half Marathon

LIBRA

Runners across the South East are preparing for the Worthing Half Marathon on Sunday 10th February 2019. Keen runner David Sluys will be donning his running shoes in aid of LIBRA.

The 68-year-old from Shoreham-By-Sea is busy training in the build up to the event which takes place just a few days before his birthday.

David was inspired to take part in the half marathon by members of Adur East Lions Club and said:

Members of the Club have been very supportive. I joined them for a Club meeting in the autumn of 2018 and mentioned my plans to take part in the Worthing Half Marathon and raise funds for a Lions appeal. It was the Club that suggested I run in aid of LIBRA. They are so proactive when it comes to fundraising and I hope to become a member in the not too distant future.

This is my first half marathon and I am really forward to it. I hope for good weather on the day as I will be running along the Worthing sea front. I am training in the gym around three to four times every week and going for longer walks on the South Downs regularly. I am feeling fit and ready for the challenge.

I am delighted to run in aid of LIBRA and hope to raise as much sponsorship as possible. I have witnessed the benefits of new and improved leukaemia treatments first hand. I understand the need for funding so that LIBRA can continue supporting King’s College Hospital’s Haematology department and its patients.
